JIMA ANNE IKEGAWA, JD, RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED CRM DESIGNATION
Ikegawa Becomes California’s Only Attorney to Attain Accreditation of Certified Records Manager
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — December 4, 2008 — DocuTech Business Solutions announced today that Jima Anne Ikegawa, JD, principal and senior consultant, attained accreditation as a Certified Records Manager (CRM) from the prestigious Institute of Certified Records Managers. With this achievement, Ikegawa becomes the only attorney in California with such a distinction. In addition, she joins an exclusive fraternity of less than 10 attorneys nationwide who are also CRMs.
“At DocuTech, we use technology to streamline complicated business processes like records and data management and regulatory compliance for organizations,” Ikegawa said. “With new laws and regulations surging in our post-bailout world, this accreditation further strengthens our comprehensive records management consulting services, allowing us to be both proactive and instantly responsive to the ever changing regulatory landscape.”
Ikegawa assists companies in a variety of industries by implementing new or improving existing records management programs. She specializes in creating and drafting retention policies and provides litigation and risk mitigation services especially in the areas of electronic discovery and disaster preparedness. She also addresses compliancy issues with a number of federal and state regulations, including SOX, OSHA, and HIPAA.
She recently joined an international team of records management professionals to participate in the development of a records management maturity model (RM3) in conjunction with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI). When complete, the model will allow any organization to develop an enterprise-wide records and information management program.
“By combining records management expertise and her training as a practicing attorney, Jima’s comprehensive counsel not only guides the development of processes and policies to manage the flow of information in our clients’ businesses, but also mitigates their risk of litigation with a legal understanding of why proper record management and compliance is so crucial,” said Gene Kato, DocuTech president.
Ikegawa is admitted to practice in the State of California and in the State and Central District Courts of California. She is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar, the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), and the records and information management organization, ARMA International. She frequently conducts seminars for attorneys and is a regular contributor to a number of legal publications.
Ikegawa graduated from the McGeorge School of Law with Honors and has been a member of the Bar since 1994. While in practice, she represented numerous financial institutions and consulted her clients regarding their document management and records retention needs.
