Email Mismanagement Will Cost You
Time is money, the old adage goes. But as it relates to email management, the question should be: “Just how much?”
The invention and wide usage of email is arguably the best source of information creation and distribution in history. Yet for companies and organizations everywhere, it also creates problems as the time workers spend navigating through their seas of emails is costing them productivity and money.
A recent study by the Radicati Group suggests the average worker sifts through approximately 150 email messages every day -- devoting nearly 20% of their time in their inbox, filing, sorting, searching, categorizing, sending, and receiving messages.
To make matters worse, in a recent survey by AIIM (Association for Information and Image Management), 32% of respondents said they were “slightly confident” that emails related to “documenting commitments and obligations made by you and your staff are recorded, complete, and retrievable?” Approximately 30% claimed they were “not confident at all.”
Managed email allows users to find relevant messages in context and provide faster, more accurate responses. As a result, users can make better decisions and gather a broader picture more efficiently. More organized email reduces the risk of accidental disclosure of sensitive or confidential information and also reduces the risks of litigation and discovery.
